I am looking closely at buying an amateur observatory. I wish to control it
from a nearby computer using a direct link. There are many fine vendors on
the market. Among them are Technical Innovations with Digital Dome Works
and Boyd Observatories with Cyber Drive. My interest is in the Boyd model
5500 with Cyber Drive or the Technical Innovations Model Home Dome Model
HD-6T. By the time the observatory cost plus the motor drive costs plus the
power supply costs plus the digital control softwares costs are totaled,
the total costs are very comparable. . Do anybody have personal experience
with either of these two systems? I do not have any experience regarding
the observatories themselves or their control software packages. I am sure
that they are both fine products.
