Someone had posted ( think it might be in the archives at www.mapug.com) =
a method to replace the plastic declination bearings with metal encased =
ball-bearing sets. From the post I had read, it seemed as though more =
than a few people had done this and completely eliminated the =
declination slew noise itself. I'm a bit too queasy to mess with the =
mechanics of mine at this point in time. In my case, I have quieted it =
to my satisfaction by changing the slew speed to 6 whenever I power-up.
