While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Last night I left my LX200 set up overnight for the first time under my
new Skytent. It is equatorially mounted with a fairly good polar
alignment (no drift for 5 minutes except for a very slight circular
motion that I attribute to periodic error. I havn't run PEC yet.) I
would like to view Venus during the daytime. My question is: If I set
the scope to 0 Dec. and have RA pointing due South using the setting
circles and then power up, will the scope know fairly closely where it's
pointed? Time and Position are accurately entered. If this plan won't
work, is there a better way?
