While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hi Dr. Benn,
Are you referring to the cable from the camera head to the control box or the SCSI cable from the control box to the computer. If it's the one from the camera to the control box, I am sucessfully using a 20 ft. cable made by Black Box. As you say it's a straight through cable with 9 pin min-DIN connectors on each end. 40 feet may be extending the distance too long, though.

However, when I use a 40' high speed cable supplied by Black Box, I get a camera head disconnected message from the control box. I have done a thorough cable analysis with a resistance meter - it is a straight through cable with identical pin connections to Meade cable. There are no shorts between wires or between wires and shield.

Also please supply if possible the contact information for the cable maker and especially the cable spec number or order number to enable an exact spec of cable to be defined. I have spoken to Black Box and they say it could be a capacitance effect and if they have the exact spec info they can duplicate a cable. Of course I could always use another manufacturer from specs you supply.
