While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Bill I do this all of the time and have great success. I don't worry about leaving anything powered up only that I got a fairly good polar alignment the evening before and that my date and time are accurate. The next day I use a printout from The Sky to give me the coordinates of the Sun but any software that can give you that information will work. I power up the scope and using the controller slew it to the RA and DEC for the Sun. Using the solar filter I unlock the RA and DEC and manually move things to center the sun as good as possible then lock them back down again I next from the software program find either a very bright near by star or planet (Venus or Jupiter) and do a GOTO operation to it. It will almost always be in the field of view of my 40 MM eyepiece. I electronically center it in the field of view and "sync" on it from the hand controller. From that point on it is select and GOTO for other items during the daytime hours.

It works good,

Cliff

Last night I left my LX200 set up overnight for the first time under my
new Skytent. It is equatorially mounted with a fairly good polar
alignment (no drift for 5 minutes except for a very slight circular
motion that I attribute to periodic error. I havn't run PEC yet.) I
would like to view Venus during the daytime. My question is: If I set
the scope to 0 Dec. and have RA pointing due South using the setting
circles and then power up, will the scope know fairly closely where it's
pointed? Time and Position are accurately entered. If this plan won't
work, is there a better way?
