While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
A Mapug member whose name may ring a bell, is currently having a problem
posting to the list due to a malformed header. Hence, I will forward this
post for him, per his request. Everythign below the line is his.
---------------
Talk of the Devil, Dr. Benn is back with a query!
With the help of several Mapugers, I now have my 416XTE working correctly
with the 12' high speed serial cable supplied by Meade. However, when I
use a 40' high speed cable supplied by Black Box, I get a camera head
disconnected message from the control box. I have done a thorough cable
analysis with a resistance meter - it is a straight through cable with
identical pin connections to Meade cable. There are no shorts between
wires or between wires and shield.
Can I please hear from people who have successfully used 40 - 50' or
longer high speed serial cables between the 416 and the control box. Also
please supply if possible the contact information for the cable maker and
especially the cable spec number or order number to enable an exact spec
of cable to be defined. I have spoken to Black Box and they say it could
be a capacitance effect and if they have the exact spec info they can
duplicate a cable. Of course I could always use another manufacturer from
specs you supply.
Thanks
Douglas
