While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

A question for the group. I had planed when the will money comes in to
go with the R.C. 14.5 SCT pro version, but the need for a new dome has
shot that down. So i'm thinking of the 16" OTA from the LX 200. As told
from several dealer, the OTA can be gotten, as a "Replacement OTA".
Price I do not know yet? If the price falls around $7K or less, then I
will proceed. Now I need some data. The OTA length from the DEC axis of
the OTA to the end. I need to know that as for the new fork arms From
Aim can be made to there mounting Boss. Also that Tubes actual outside
diameter. I remember seeing several Meade 16" Sct OTA on GEMs, but can't
remember where, so that contact is out for now, unless I remember. Also
will be looking for a 1616 XTE CCD so the 416 will be dedicated to the
spectroscopy end of things.
BTW I sorry to the group form the other day when I crossed post. And the
dome with shipping to Sacramento will still be less than the popular US
made Dome abit more in cost and more work to do to put it together,
where this one will be a cinch in about 2 hours or there about. It will
be great for the Meade 16". So if anyone has these figures, I would sure
be grateful. Mike
