refractor on an exceptional mount – Meade’s new
LXD500 German equatorial. The stable and very precise LXD500
mount has an adjustable height metal tripod, bronze bearings and
worm gears on both axes, engraved setting circles, manual slow
motion controls, and provisions for an optional polar alignment finder.
Optional single and dual axis DC drive/drive correctors are available
for photography and uninterrupted visual observing. The optical tube
has a 102mm diameter EMC multicoated objective lens (920mm focal
length f/9) for excellent high contrast planetary and lunar images, plus
sharp images of star clusters, binary stars, and hundreds of the brighter
