While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hi Kyle,

Do you have any pictures or a website to see what you've done?

Thanks, Peter Alexander

I have the LX200-10 and not fortunate (yet) to have a permanate place to =
setup my scope. How to store it has been a concern since I bought the =
scope. I went to Meade and asked for the recommended way to store the =
scope. Their reply was surprising being that that they market a storage =
case that uses the shipping foam and a horizontal case. Meade quote " =
the preferred method is to leave it on the tripod or pedestal, or store =
it in a vertical position". I must set up my scope each time I use it =
as most of you do. I just do not feel "comfortable" storing it on it's =
side. So,here is what I did:

I built a vertical wood box with a slide-down-in-the-grove type cover =
(drops down from the top and secures with side latches. I put castors =
on the bottom to move it around. I made a recessed base, that accepts =
the telescope base, and that has smaller castors on it with enough =
clearance under the bottom to reach a flouted knob with a 1/2" bolt stud =
that bolts the telescope base to the mobile base. I then push the base =
into the case using a small ramp for sooth loading and unloading. The =
base fits into the case and meshes with two rails that have drop pins =
that firmly connects the mobile base to the sides of the case. I used =
the shipping foam as a guide and glued up a matching foam liner and the =
lined the inside of the case with the new foam. I then push the case =
into the house from my desk for storage.=20

The scope is mounted vertical, with RA and Dec LOCKED. It only takes =
about 1 min to take the scope out of the case and lift it on to the =
tripod. Works for me.
