While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Thanks for the reply, actually to all that replied. Some really =
interesting posts with lots of useful info, really appreciated. I have =
some info coming on the Rainbow Optics unit. I called Rainbow and spoke =
with a fellow who must have been the designer as he "flowed" with folks =
who were using his unit, a few colleges and individuals. Being a newbe =
to this area, I don't want to jump too quickly before I spend any more =
money. Getting my new LX200-10 was not planned(my Criterion RV8 was =
doing just fine)...actually I went to get my grandson a small scope to =
use to get him involved in astronomy (he's 4 1/2) and really =
sharp...anyway, the dealer did a good job of selling! Not only did I =
buy the scope, but just about ALL the accessories one can possibility =
use. So far I'm down about 8k...and now I'm looking at a spectroscope?? =
=20

The info that can be obtained from a spectrum about a star is what is =
grabbed me. I am reading everything I can get my hands on about =
spectroscopes. Just mind blowing what can be done. So, all suggestions =
greatly appreciated. Actually if anyone has a working unit they want =
part with, we can discuss that in email if you like. Thanks again to =
all who posted...This is a great group and I would be hard pressed to =
put a value on the information that I have gleaned here just =
lerking...Just great!!

I think it was Kyle that asked about the rainbow grating? I wonder if =
you found some useful information at my web site about this? Also here =
are some very good places to look.=20
http://www.astrosurf.com/buil/ At this site you can learn allot on =
spectra, as Buil is the best. Also on his front page, is a underscored =
name, New Web Site for Visual Spec, by my friend Val. She is a top =
programer and also tops in spectra. I can tell you more later, as you =
have most likely seen the commercials on TV months back for GE's new, =
near 100% effective mammography she designed. When you go to her site, =
if you want, do the full down load, NOT the disks. Also look over things =
and you'll see a step by step tutorial on how to start using the =
program. About the only good one out there for spectra. I also wish to =
remind all, and the new users we have a voice chat room set up for any =
of the good groups to use. Its;=20
http://go.to/astrochat Just fallow the instructions for new =
users, down load the program, unzip it, and get its Icon then double =
click on that to install. fallow all the instruction or contact me for =
help. Mike=20
