While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
First guess: the PC or LX200 serial port fried ...
Try using the serial port of your PC with another device. If that works try
another serial cable with the LX . If that won't work the serial on the LX
is toast...

Subject: [M]: Serial Link Failure
Hello,
I have searched the back issues and Im sure Ive missed the answer I am
searching for but here goes;
- I have a lx200 that I have been controlling from about 100' away for a
couple of years. Yesterday, I could not link. I rechecked my serial cable,
and no prob. I dropped speed to 300kbs, no connection.
The scope performed fine via hand controller, and from my ccdsoft program
for short moves, but serial was an ex-parrot.
Is there a fuse or something inside the guts that I should check? Would the
serial interface die without the rest of the system?
About 2 weeks ago I took a nearby coronal lightning hit. It knocked my
radios off line, my Davis weather station went into lockup mode, my cable
modem fried, and overall, caused havoc. But, no problems with my pc, it
works fine, the weather station after hard reboot works fine, the radio
clocks after taking out the batteries and reapplying them works fine.
Is there a surge fuse in the lx? If not, any way to determine working
status aside from a simple ack program via connection?
Any help would be appreciated!
Regards,
Keith Shank
