Doug
My son has now made me up a connector lead for the palm which gets rid of
the gender changer & the null modem.
RJ11 to the LX as per pinouts in the manual, Male 9 pin at the other end,
pin 5 ground RX & TX on pins 3 & 2 swapped. it works a treat only one
connection less things to go wrong.
I tested it out in my conservatory, did a rough polar alignment, sync the
Palm & the LX and off we went. The accuracy is quite impressive for a
freebie. checking the read out on the LX hand set against the Palm (the Palm
doesn't show seconds) I noticed that if selecting an object from the
Caldwell, Messier or LX star list, the readouts on the two hand sets are
within a few seconds of each other the palm obviously rounds up or down to
the nearest minute. if you pick any other area on the palm the accuracy is
within one minute which improves as you zoom in on the palm. it's a nice
piece of kit for little cost. I've now got a hotsync travel lead on order.
Thanks for the help
