While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Mike,
I've noticed an absence of replies to your question which perhaps suggests
this is a slightly unique problem. I can, however, report a similar issue
with my 10" LX200 - despite replacing the back-up battery I find the
internal clock to run ridiculously slow when not powered up (i.e. only gains
20mins every 1 hour). This "behaviour" is however a little sporadic, and
sometimes it will keep good time over a day or so, but invariably after a
week or more the time (and the date) will be way out. On some occasions the
problem arises after little more than a couple of hours after shutdown. For
the first 12 months of using the LX200 I had no such problems (funny how
these issues arise just after the warranty expires).

I think I recall a similar post about 12 months ago, and someone had
suggested the clock IC was probably on the blink. I can't recall if this
chip is easily replaceable, and I have to confess I have not been too
bothered to find out and I just accept that I probably need to reset the
date/time each time I start-up. I wonder if there is anyone out there who
has ever removed/replaced the back-up clock chip??
