While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I was drift aligning my LX200 10" f3.3 last night and I had great diffuclty in turning the the large hand wheel turns the long screw thread that crosses horizontally the back of the wedge. The screw is attached to a metal pin that engages in a slot in the top of my Astro Pier. I am trying to rotate the wedge in the horizontal plane to produce RA adjustment for drift alignment. I have unscrewed the three pier screws to all horizontal rotation of the wedge on the pier.

Are the two hand wheels attached to the horizontal screw for RA alignment or have I misunderstood their purpose (always very likely with me)? Should I be releasing something that is holding the horizontal screw tight? Should I just be manually pushing the wedge to obtain RA changes?

Thanks for help.

Douglas
