While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

I get about that same volume of mail and thats the same idea I use. With
Outlook, all mail from MAPUG goes to one folder, SBIG list to another,
VideoAstro to another, etc. Working at an ISP setting up accounts and
playing 'webmaster' gets me quite a bit of mail also so they stack up fast.

We don't use any newsgroups with our Internet service - I was unaware that
the messages stay on the server as someone else pointed out. I can see how
that would save some clutter, not having to download every message.
Although once deleted, that don't take up much space at all :-)

It is not a big deal. Some people, like myself, who get 100 to 200
messages a day in the normal course of business, find a newsgroup format to
be more convenient. However, there are other convenient solutions....
my 'Outlook' is set up to move all MAPUG email into a specific folder. It
is easy to do this and eliminates the need to sort through the volumes of
email. Plus, I don't have to wade through a lot of boring business
messages to get my daily MAPUG fix :-)

Pardon a question from the uninformed... I am not a newsgroup user, but
what could be easier than sending and receiving MAPUG list messages by
Email? You press a button, you get your messages, you press a button, your
replies go to the list. Seems pretty simple to me, am I missing something?

Probably been asked a million times, but is there an easier way to
view and contribute to this list - ie, newsgroup style ?
