As far as I am concerned, I would encourage you to think about what you
want to do with your camera, and also at what you might want to do in
the future with it. In this context, you may want to think two things :
- After doing a number of colour images you might want to do deep
images, or images in order to measure things on it (like asteroid
magnitudes, supernovae, etc...). If you get a black and white CCD camera
and a filter wheel, you will be able to do colour images (deeper than
with a direct colour CCD images).
- Your wife is indeed very generous, and you will have in the future a
black and white CCD camera to your equipment. ;-)
