While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

A reminder: Local building codes usually have a lot to say about running
house power in buried conduit.

For example, I had to run a 110 VAC circuit to an above-ground swimming
pool. Our county requires only a 6" (8"? Can't remember) trench for steel
conduit, but a deeper trench (12" or 18") for plastic conduit.

I strongly recommend checking with the local building inspector before
running power circuits underground. At minimum, you could save some work
digging the trench if you use steel conduit. <G> I don't know if there are
other regulations about what can or cannot be installed above the power
conduit.

One thing I learned: Outdoor circuits now require an INSULATED GROUND
WIRE. That's right - that bare ground wire in your household Romex isn't
code for outdoor circuits. It has to be insulated (green is the color)
just like the hot (black) and neutral (white) wires.
