While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
if I were in your shoes, I would follow the 18 volts path in the contron panel using a voltmeter or even a comon torch or car lamp plus a resistor. It may be the power coaxial connector, the power switch... In theory such kind of fault are easy to locate. Suposely it must be very close to the power input point. Good luck!!

Subject: [M]: LX200 help...Please!
Hi,
I haven't used my 10" LX200 since last December. I usually use smaller
scopes during the cold winter months. This scope is about 4 years old and
electronics were sent back to Meade for an electronic problem about 18
months ago. The problem was solved but I may now have a new one.
Yesterday, I took the scope out of storage and set it up indoors to insure
that all was okay. I used household current and the 18V DC current
transformer as I have done many times before. When I switched to on, the
red lamp on the console turned on momentarily then went off. I checked all
connections and tried again. The lamp does not come on.
To check the problem, I first removed the 1 amp fuse located behind the
power console and checked it for continuity...it's okay. I next took the
transformer to a local Radio Shack to have it checked. I am told it's
putting out proper voltage. I also checked the in-line fuse on the cord
from the transformer as it plugs into the power console...it appears okay.
Any suggestions from anyone would be most appreciated. Thanks!
Al
