I too have been watching this list for some weeks and
got very positive impressions also about sites of
local observatories.
Although I am very much a beginner, I am willing to
consider entering at a higher level in order to avoid
upgrade costs&hassle. In this sense (similar to the 8"
LX200 vs 10" discussion) I would like to ask you about
a comparison between 12" LX200 and Nexstar 11",
because the price difference is almost 1000, a little
more than from 8" to 10". Also highly interesting
would be to learn about a 'Sky&Telescope' type
comparison on the functioning of these scopes
(precision,etc.), just as between the 10" LX200 and
Ultima (which I have been told to be discontinued).
