While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I have finally managed to get rid of the oscillations of the permanent
mount of my 16" LX 200 by filling the tube with round gravel of 5-10 mm
diameter. The only vibrations left are minute and seem to originate from
the fork assembly. I guess, I have been spoiled by the steadyness of the
predecessor of my new scope which was a 12" , bolted solidly to a
concrete pillar.
