Hi Doug,

I just sent my 10" LX200 back to Meade for the "$500 treatment," so I have a
good idea of what you get. The cost is actually $495 and what you get is
the following:

ELECTRONICS: Completely checked and repaired to original specifications.
This includes all parts and labor.

MECHANICALS: Completely checked and repaired to original specifications.

OPTICAL: Completely checked and collimated. If optics require replacement,
Meade will notify you for your approval. My understanding is that you will
be billed for any parts (optical) which are replaced.

In mailing the scope to Meade, you are responsible for shipping expense to
the factory...Meade will cover shipping expense to you. If it's any help,
my shipping expense to mail the scope back to Meade (98 pounds total weight
with $2,800 insurance...NJ to CA) was $55. I used FEDEX ground rather than
UPS and found this to be about 20% cheaper.
