Hello 'PUGER's
A friend owns an 8" LX200, had it for years with very little hassle.
Recently we have observed a strange (for us) optical "defect" when observing defocussed star
images. Its like a thin crescent of light immediately adjacent to the def. star image, and extends
about one third the way round the circumference of the image.
First thought was that something major had occurred with collimation, however it was fine. As a
test we brought the scope way out of collimation and back to good. The "defect" remained, whether
the collimation was good or bad.
Has anyone ever seen this before or have any thoughts as to what it might be? My guess is
something else is slightly out of alignment, but thats only a guess ;-)
Cheers, Peter
