While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
I have noted many proposals for operating the LX-200 from a 12-volt DC
source without sacrificing performance.
My son asked if I know a solution less spendy than the MEADE #1812
Electronic DC Adapter.
I found the RADIO SHACK 273-1825 Power Supply:
Input voltage(s) 11 - 16-volts at up to 4-amps.
Output voltage(s), easily adjustable from 6 to 21-volts (limited to
30-watts output).
The supply has a quality fused battery (cigarette lighter) plug, and a
selection of output plugs adjustable for polarity.
Running the LX-200 with the RADIO SHACK supply feeding into the MEADE fused
extension cord, the LX-200 performs all functions briskly, and the compact
power supply unit runs cool.
I heartily recommend this economical power fix.
