Yes, the 216 can be used to guide with Pictorview (Basically you can take images, pick a star and start the guider. The 216 then guides as if it were standalone with absolute values of the corrections being displayed graphically on the PC screen (so you can see a history of them).

As for third party software, I would look at MaximDL but do not know if they have implemented a guiding mode for the 416.
