While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hi All

I have been reading the MAPUG postings for a short time and getting a lot
of usful info. on 'scopes. Working at an Observatory means I don't have a
strong need to buy a 'scope just now but in the future .....

As to the pricing - look at it in terms of dollars per square inch of
glass, or, the dollars ratioed on the square of the aperture. The 10"
costs (about) $35.65 per square inch while the 12" costs (about) $37.15 per
square inch. No real difference given the 12" has a BAK-7 corrector. The
8" I don't have a price in front of me to run the numbers with. The
NexStar 11 is about $31.50 per square inch .... but it has a tad less
machining and fabrication in it.

Hope this helps

Time to sleep thru' the thunderstorm outside ....
