While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

My 10" f/6.3 arrived on Thursday from Astronomics, and it is certainly
beautiful. Here in the Ohio Valley, the rain gods are on the warpath (I
watch the river rise from my office downtown) so it may be a while before I
look at anything with it. I did, though, want to offer up one observation.

I bought a scope saver junior with the telescope (just like senior, I guess,
but no shelf for eyepieces or keypad - I wanted to keep it set up on the
tripod all the time. Anyway, I was totally frustrated with the clips that
are provided with the tripod to keep the attachment bolt in line. So I went
to a hardware store and for 15 cents bought a 1/2 inch c-clip (which is
different from the "e" clips that ship with the tripod).

I slipped the c-clip on easily and because it hugs the bolt well, I am
easily able to adjust the height just by screwing it along the length of the
bolt. It keeps the bolt from coming out and hitting the floor, and doesn't
get in the way when I need to screw it into the base of the unit. I don't
need to worry about attaching the clip to the slot on the bolt, giving me a
bit more flexibility in positioning, etc.

Anyway, with the help you folks have provided me during my purchase angst, I
wanted to return a bit of the favor.

Mike
