While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

The resonant frequency of this combination would be much too high.
The resonant frequency needs to be near that of the actual
disturbance.

Rob apparently found this to be near 1 Hz. Surprisingly low, but it
is a big scope. Each scope will have its own critical frequency.

Experiment with his method. Soft bungee cords and hanging masses.
