Is your scope still in warranty?
If not, I'd just open it up and take a look at what's happening. I'd be
willing to guess the spring that holds the worm carriage in place has
either come out or slipped on its side. It's an easy procedure to remove
the carriage and slip the spring back in, if this is the case. Lots of
detailed info on this can be found in the MAPUG Topical Archives on the
excellent Ed Stewart's site at www.mapug.com, under the Dec Axcis, Backlas
and Motor Issues section. Best of all, Ed has put it into .PDF format so
you can download it and view it with Adobe Acrobat. I'm certain you will
find it is nothing very serious, especially as it seems the dec motor is in
working order.
