In a recent discussion on this issue, someone stated that even though we are 4 hours earlier than GMT during Daylight Savings Time, Meade chooses to express the difference in positive numbers. I don't remember the explanation someone gave here but I know there was a good reason. Even though you have to subtract four hours from GMT to get the correct local EDST, you enter it in the Meade keypad as +4.
