While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book

Hello all. I'm planning on buying a new 10" or 12" LX200 in the next month or so. I'm rather
concerned about getting a scope that has either poor goto accuracy or excessive mirror shift. I
believe the odds are that I'll get a good scope but I also know that bad scopes seem to slip
through the Meade QA (I have one now - see my other posts). Anyways, I would really prefer to buy
one from a place that actually inspects them and tests them out before they sale them. Seems like
alot of local non mail order dealers do this but I don't want to pay sale taxes so I prefer mail
order. Does anyone know of any mail order dealers that test the scopes out thoroughly before
selling them? This would save me the trouble of having to return a lemon scope and of waiting for
a new one. Seems like shipping costs would kill you on this scope ($215 seems to be the
standard).
John
