While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

As another poster mentioned, I use the scope saver jr (which is just the
mounting plate and is just a hair bigger than the base of the scope). I
leave it attached to the tripod all the time (haven't mounted the wedge
yet - I would remove it for that, of course) and it makes life just sooooooo
much easier. I too have abandoned the clip, but with the saver, it's a snap
to thread the rod.
