While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
Hello list,
I was just going through the Mapug site and ran into the well done article
by Michael Hart (with additions and editing by Doc G) concerning the
upgrading of the LX-200 Declination from Nylon bearings to roller bearings.
This confused me. When I looked into my scope last night (see my posting to
the list ‘Orthoganality?’) I had the declination setting circle off at one
point. I noted, with some concern for quality, that the dec bearing said
‘Made in China’ on it. So I looked at the bearing close enough to decide it
was probably all right. Keep in mind that this was before I saw the dec
bearing mod article. The article, and its pictures, concerns a Nylon dec
bearing. My dec bearing is a roller bearing already, from Meade.
Is this a change that Meade has made at some time in the recent past?
Darrell
