While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
I did a quick and dirty orthoganality correction tweak tonight on my not
quite week old 10" f10 LX-200 with the factory installed dec roller
bearings. I did not take the time to do it absolutely right as the diffused
light source I was using was not really bright enough. But I found the
error in my scopes factory alignment to be something greater than 0.3
degrees.
Anyway, after this quick and dirty tweak I took the scope outside and did a
two star alignment with the scope in AltAz. No illuminated reticle EP for
the alignment, just a 10 mm on a barlow. The results....
After repeated large slews (greater than 90 degrees) the scope was still
putting the target in the center 25% of the 26mm EP. I am feeling pretty
good about this now. Also, I know the ortho alignment I did was not
perfect, I can't wait till I have the time and light source to do it right!
Thanks to the list,
Darrell
