All,
A few weeks back there was some discussion regarding flocking the inside of
the LX200 secondary, OTA and baffle tube. If any of you have flocked the
secondary housing by using the sticky backing, I urge you to check and make
sure the flocking has good adherence to the housing walls. The flocking on
mine decided to come off and fell onto the primary mirror. Once on the
mirror, it had no problem sticking like crazy. In fact, it wouldn't come
off and I trashed my primary in the process of trying to unstick it. My 12"
is now on the way back to Meade for a complete optics replacement. I
strongly urge anyone who has made this modification to go ahead and make
sure it is ok. The optics replacement on the 12" is $1750.00. I would hate
to see anyone else have to go through the aggravation and anguish I suffered
this past weekend.
Good luck and clear skies,
Chris
