While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hello,
On three occasions while polar aligning my 10-inch I heard a "thump" coming
from the scope. I hear this sound just seconds before the scope reaches
Polaris and the keypads tells me to center Polaris in the scope. Each time
the "thump" happens at the exact same time. It cannot be mirror shift or
slop because the focus is fine before and after th noise. Could it be
something inside the RA grear box?

All else works fine and the "thump" is not heard at any other time.

Regards,
Paul Markov
