While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
What are the positives and/or negatives of the field de-rotator versus
wedge?
Setup time? Quality of images? Ease of use? Hindrances? Alignment time?
Does the rotator work better if the camera is self guided (SBIG or
StarLight)?
Does the rotator work well with OAG? Obviously a separate scope for guiding
will not work with the rotator but with self guiders is this as big a
concern?
I understand that without guiding the wedge will hold an image longer? Is
this
solely because of the PEC/Smart Drive?
I only have one camera (216XT), no guider, I am considering a guiding camera
for
the future. I am using an Lx200 10" F10. 6.3 & 3.3 reducers. I currently
love
the quick setup time of the alt/az and have imaged upto a minute with round
stars.
Setup from out of the house to first image in 15 minutes, similar for break
down.
1/2 hour out of viewing/imaging time already a 1/5 of net time.
I would love to hear any and all opinions.
Opinions thus far, dealers split on wedge or rotator, those that no longer
have
the rotator are negative as well as those only having had the wedge, those
that
still have the rotator are positive.
Best site for alt/az images http://members.aol.com/jepobs/presentgallery.htm
a French
gentleman, with an Lx200 8" and 12".
I appreciate the knowledge reaped from this group,
Thank you,
Rick
