While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book

Greetings.
Well, after years of deliberation, I've finally succumbed to the SCT - =
and have sold my Newtonian and unwieldy heavy duty GEM for a 10 inch =
LX200. I've been preparing for its arrival on Monday by reading the =
on-line instruction manual. Can someone verify the following for me:
My Longitude is 115 degrees 48 minutes EAST. According to the manual, =
longitudes east of Greenwich need to be converted into degrees west of =
Greenwich which would make the number that I need to key into the LX200 =
244 degrees 12 minutes ? Is this correct ?
Similarly with the Hour offset. I'm actually GMT +8 hours, but if my =
understanding is correct, I need to enter this as -8 as, again, I am =
east of Greenwich.
It's no big deal I suppose (as it only needs to be done once) but it =
seems slightly strange given that most astronomical software packages =
that I've used seem to understand the concept of east.
Any other last suggestions, other than buying a scopesaver (I've done =
this already) are gratefully received.
PS - For those interested, Meade are shipping the free eyepieces WITH =
the telescope - for overseas purchases (well, Australia in any case).
