While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I managed to get a decent look at Mars on 6/15/01. Still, the sky was not
that steady. It has been so rainy and cloudy here (40 miles west of
Chicago), I almost sold my scope to build an Arc. I used my modified
Connectix Color Quickcam and 8" LX200 to capture a couple images. They're
not too bad for a cheap homemade cam. They can be seen at:

www.thedavidfamily.com/Astro .

I can't wait till my Starlight Express MX7-C gets here.

Yes! I've been having wonderful views of it for the last few weeks. I
even managed a decent photo with my Canon D30:

(back up to http://nineplanets.org/astro/x.html for more images and
exposure details).

I don't understand the complaints about Mars being too bright: what
magnification are those of you using who are having this trouble? Mars
needs at least 200x and generally more is better until you run out of
resolution or (more likely) seeing. At that 200x, it's bright but not
uncomfortably so.
