Greetings,
I've spent the past couple of hours adjusting the focuser assembly of my =
LX200 to rid myself of as much of the backlash as I can. I've also taken =
the opportunity to slide the mirror up and down the tube (courtesy of =
long 1/4 inch bolt) to work out some of the grease induced backlash.
I've definitely gained an improvement, but after repeating the process a =
couple of times, don't seem to be able to beat the following numbers:
a quarter of a turn of backlash
about 3 arc minutes of mirror shift
I'd be interested to hear from any other 10 inch LX200 (or any LX200 =
owner for that matter) on whether these numbers seem normal. I'm likely =
to implement the roller bearing / thrust washer idea next - but doubt I =
will get rid of much more of the backlash. The mirror shift seems =
bearable at about 3 arc minutes.
Any comments ?
