While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
I'm feeling really stupid.
I have read and re-read the instructions in the Meade instruction
booklet for my new 12" LX200 (set up on a superwedge) but I simply don't
understand one section of the book.
I have set up the location of my site - no problem
I have set up the local time and date - no problem
Now I assumed (was this my first mistake) that I need to use the POLAR
rather than the ALTAZ option.
I happily turned to page 17 then the problems began!!
"... the telescope should be adjusted so that the declination setting
circle is set to 90 degrees ...." OK did that by looking at the scale
"and the telescope is rotated to the 00 hour angle position in Right
Ascension"
HOW DO I DO THIS??? The right ascension setting circle moves freely and
looks as if it is intended to do so how can I tell what the RA value is?
The books refers to Fig 5 to help explain everything but in my book fig
5 is actually just a picture of the keypad!!?
