I've down this 3 times; once under warranty, and twice out of warranty. The
first two were a result of electronics failures. The 3rd time as a result of a
voltage surge induced by a close call lightning strike to the observatory. The
steps for repair are:
1. Call Meade.
2. Get a "Return Authorization Number.
3. Give them your credit card number.
4. Wait for new electronics.
5. Do the electronics swap (very easy).
6. Send back old parts to Meade.
