While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

The $500 fix may be overkill for the problem you're having. You can
probably get everything fixed for the $200 electronic fix. If you contact
Meade, they will supply you instruction on exactly what to send them, how to
remove these items from your scope and any other questions you may have.
Usually, you will send the mother board, daughter board, keypad and cords,
RA drive and Dec drive. You then wait 3 to 4 weeks and everything is sent
back to you tested and repaired.
