While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Re: [M]: LX200: Ball bearing focuser upgrade.Actually - along similar =
lines - I'd like a detailed description of the spring arrangement in the =
12 inch LX200. May duplicating this for the 10 inch will solve a few =
problems ? Any 12 inch owner care to describe ?

Do you mean the pivot ? If so, then yes, I thought about this, but =
was worried that shimming it up would reduce the amount of free movement =
it has to slide along the pin. I would imagine that it needs this to =
allow for the fact that everything is unlikely to be perfectly square as =
the mirror moves up and down the baffle.

Could the remaining bit of backlash result from space between the =
focusser screw device and the arm that actually
moves the mirror ? If so, that space could be eliminated, I would =
think.

Hi folks,

I'm in the same boat. I've considered a spring device, but don't have =
a complete design. In short, could a nut+washer+spring+washer be placed =
on the end of the threaded part to push on the pin? You'd give up =
"front focus", but maybe thats OK?
