I have a new 10" f/10 LX200 for a about a year now. I have noticed that =
my scope's RA slew speed is not constant. In Alt-z mode, under high =
speed slew, I have found that the RA motor is struggling to move when =
reached to a certain location for a spread of 10 degree. At that =
location, I saw the current drain changes from 4 to 6 LED bars in the =
LX200 panel and the motor sound a lot slower. Past that spot, the RA =
motor will speed up again. Initially, I thought the problem is that the =
scope is not well balanced but the problem occur even I get the scope to =
point straight down to the ground. I have replace the scope's =
motherboard myself when it was brand new due the scope's computer was =
DOA but I didn't touch or replace the RA and DEC motors. From the meade =
repair instructions, there is a spring that hold the RA motor tight to =
the RA worm wheel. A 1/8" space clearance must be reserve for the worm =
wheel high and low spot. Could the problem be that the RA motor/worm =
gear is mounted too tight to the worm wheel ? Does anyone have notice =
similar experience with their scope ?

Any suggestion is greatly welcome.
