It's nice to hear that you've had such good luck with Meade (quality =
control), but I believe you are experiencing an unusually lengthy period =
of good luck. You may soon be in for some disappointment. Of course, I =
wish this does not happen to you, but with Meade's lousy track =
record...maybe you'll get a taste as soon as next month.

All I can say is my own experience. I've owned my LX200 for two years =

absolutely no problems. This is the fourth Meade scope I've owned and =

to have a problem that wasn't of my making. On those few occasions =

have needed something, I've called Meade and they've sent it right out =
to me.=20

Once, I bent the altitude fine adjustment on my Meade wedge. I don't =
think=20
there was a warranty on that other than for a part that arrived =
defective. I=20
spoke to Meade about it and they sent me another one at no charge. =
Being=20
fair, I did come close to a problem with Meade on this issue. Someone =
got=20
mixed up and sent me the bolt that goes into the base of the scope. =
But, by=20
the time I received that one, I had already received the altitude =
adjustment=20
piece.=20

Another time, I caused a problem with my ETX that I needed the gear =
that goes=20
on the end of the shaft from the RA control knob. Even though I caused =
the=20
problem and the scope was out of warranty, they sent me another gear =
with no=20
argument or charge.=20

I've also called a couple of times to discuss what I thought was a =
problem.=20
Each time, I've gotten an answer that solved what I thought was a =
problem and=20
wasn't made to feel dumb.=20

A lot of people in my local club have Meade scopes. I rarely hear a =
negative=20
comment about them. At club meetings and star parties, what is most =
common is=20
to hear the good things that have been done with the scope.=20
