While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
I have to say that I did not have the intention of "Meade Bashing"
I have owned four Meade telescopes over the last few years
and still own one of the best telescopes that I think it is possible to
have,
the 7 inch LX50 Maksutov.
The point of my message was to look at the seeming acceptance of poor
quality control with in an other wise innovative and impressive company.
In the end we are the people that loose out to the monster of poor QC,
both in the observing time we loose due to daft problems and the hard earned
money
we have to shell out to repair problems that should not have been there in
the first place.
I work in an industry controlled by rigid safety protocols and the threat of
legal action if
my company does not keep up standards in QC, I work with in the field of
medical laser systems
incase you were wondering infact I own my own company. Meade unfortunately
choose to cut
corners in one of the most important areas of manufacturing.
To answer a point raised in an earlier message. I am sure that Meade source
in many of the
components and sub assemblies that go to make up there products. This alone
does not excuse
poor QC standards on the finished product. If a sub contractor is found to
be bellow standard
financial means may be used to persuade the offending company to pull up
there socks.
Failing this parts and assemblies can and should the be sourced from another
manufacturer.
There are no excuses for poor standards!!!
So lets not try to stiffle this thread instead lets try to achieve a small
victory by urging the
powers to be at Meade to improve standards.

Subject: [M]: Re: Mead quality control!!!- please quit this thread
Could we not go down this road again? I've seen this debate about who
likes
Meade, and who doesn't, along with all the testimonials and complaints
about
a dozen times over the past few months- each time it's a 50-message
thread.
It's not at all constructive.
Let's just agree that some people have problems, others don't and leave
it
at that.
