Hi Ed,

I have used my ST7E (basically the same primary chip as the 416) with my
Celestron 80WA (similar optics) with decent results. A few points -

Use an IR blocking filter - the optics on these scopes are very poor in the
infra-red which stops one from getting decent focus when using CCD (film is
not particularly responsive to IR).

Some people have had "weird" diffraction patterns with the 80mm scope, this
appears to be caused by inadequate baffling and/or incursion of OTA screws
into the light path inside the scope.

Other than that - try it, it makes a good low cost wide-field combo IMHO.
