Probably a little wasted money. I have a garden tractor battery, probably 21ah
capacity. With a 350 watt inverter running, it keeps above the lower limit
input voltage for the inverter for about two or three hours. I have a computer
battery charger on the inverter. I got a 12 VDC to DC converter from Radio
Shack. The output voltage is adjustable over a range of about 9 to 24 volts and
it is rated for 30 watts. If that is all I have on the battery, I have driven
the telescope for 10 hours and the battery voltage was still above 12.25
volts. The 30 watt output rating is okay. The ammeter on the front panel of
the scope is about 300 ma per bar and mine shows 3 to 4 bars under all
circumstances of driving the scope, so the scope probably consumes less than 10
watts maximum.
