Hi:

Same experience here with the little guy--the 60. The goto worked from day
one, and optically the scope, allowing for the limitations of a 60mm aperture
and a relatively fast f/5.8 f/r, is very nice. It was particularly amusing to
see it retrieve object after object from the dark TSP skies this past
spring...M109, M108, M107, M101--all the "hard" Messiers one after the other.

True, the wide field helps with the goto...but still. The other night I
didn't really have the time or the inclination to take one of the big guns
out back. Big, nearly full Moon in the sky, anyway. And the backyard is
severely light-polluted and hemmed in with trees. No problem for the 60.
Leveled the tripod. Pointed it to where I _thought_ Polaris ought to be
(blocked by a tree), set dec to 0 and did a 2 star alignment. Altair and Enif
were the only options through the trees. "Alignment Successful". Bang: M15
dead center. Bang: M2 dead center. Ran in the house for a while. Half an hour
later M2 still near the center of a 10mm Plossl.

The ETX 60 is definitely one of the best values around, and I'm sorry to see
it go. But if Meade gets the 70's price a mite lower than where it is now,
all the better...
