While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I have an 10" LX200 f/6.3 and have been having a lot of fun doing film
astrophotography. Let me start by thanking many of the members of this group, as
I've posted my frustrations and questions here, and have always gotten good
pointers to keep me going in the right direction.

I would like to consider getting into CCD photography. I understand that there
are significant differences and challenges, but having read the Handbook for
Astronomical Image Processing, I have a general feel for what I'm getting into
(I have a science background, so the concepts are straightforward for me to
understand although I admit I take their word for the mathematical derivations).
I don't, though, want to spend a boatload of money, but would rather learn my
way into it.

I would like to get list member's ideas on what a good intro ccd camera would be
for my setup. I would not want to go the route of building a camera, but would
rather want to purchase (new or used) a commerically available camera. My aim is
to keep this under $1000 - which is steep enough for a subset of a hobby. As I
said, I am in this for the long haul, so want to walk before I run.

Any suggestions?
